Fix It or Replace It: How to Tell
Hardware wears out on its own schedule, which is why most calls are repairs. Springs, cables, rollers, hinges, sensors and openers can each be swapped without touching the door itself, and a repaired door that runs smooth and quiet is a fine result.
A new door earns a look when several panels are cracked, rust has eaten the bottom section, replacement sections are no longer made, or the door lacks the wind rating a replacement must have. We lay out the reasons side by side and you choose.
